This lot consists of a portrait of George Russell Smith, by Xanthus Smith, as noted on the verso of the painting. This note on the verso also mentions that Smith was the winner of a motor cycle race. The artist depicts Smith in profile, however his head is turned so that it is in a quarter profile almost as if the winner was just called and turned his head to see what was happening. Smith dons a red sweater with a blue collar and a white collared shirt underneath. He also wears a brown helmet and goggles. The artist has him seated in front of a black background. The piece is framed in a metallic colored wooden frame. The painting was painted on canvas and has now been transferred onto board. Overall the item is in good condition with normal wear present on the frame and canvas. Craquelure is present on the piece as well, along with some paint deficient areas.

Condition: (Good - Very Good).

Item Dimensions: Framed: 22-1/2" x 18-3/8".
