This lot consists of a landscape painting entitled, "On the Delaware Near the Water Gap," by Philip B. Hahs in 1875, as noted by the didactic on the verso. Hans has depicted a lovely little area on the Delaware where one is able to see rolling mountains in the distance with a beautiful sky farther back. In the foreground there is a figure that stands along the edge of the road, covered in shade by the tree to the left of the image. As noted on the didactic on the verso, this piece was exhibited in the New Jersey State Museum for the exhibit entitled "19th Century Painters of the Delaware Valley." The painting is framed in an ornately carved gild wooden frame. On the bottom of the frame, there is a plaque noting, "Philip B. Hahs 1853-1882." Overall the lot is in good condition with normal wear present. Wear is present on the frame with areas deficient of gilding and wood along with craquelure on the canvas.

Condition: (Very Good).

Item Dimensions: Framed: 20-1/2" x 19".
