This lot consists of "The Council of War" statue. Depicted in this lot are two Presidents of the United States- President Grant and President Lincoln, with Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. President Lincoln is depicted sitting reading a document, while President Grant (who is to the left of President Lincoln), looks at Secretary Stanton (who is to the right of President Lincoln and was President Lincoln’s Secretary of War) while Grant points at the document. Secretary Stanton, stands there cleaning his glasses that are held in his hands. These three influential figures had dealt with many important issues that were raised during the early to mid-1800’s. The titled, "The Counsel of War," is written on the front base of the statue, while in a different area, it is also noted "Patented March 31, 1868." Also to the left of President Lincoln's feet, on the base, the artists name is present, "John Rogers New York." Overall the piece is in good condition with normal wear present. It also appears that some areas have had some repairs done to it.
