This lot consists of a plaster bust or President and General Grant. Although the artist did not go into grave detail to have the bust resemble President Grant, he still noted the important facial features and beard to make him recognizable. The President dons a cloak and suit coat with collared shirt underneath. The busts sits on top of a pedestal and is painted to resemble the color of cream colored marble. However there are cracks and areas deficient of the paint all over the piece, as well as nicks and cracks. On the verso, "Gen. Grant" is inscribed on the base of the bust. There are large areas of paint flaking off there along with large cracks and flakes of paint on the head of the President.
