This lot consists of a monitor type vessel called "The Lehigh" but was nicknamed "The Sea Elephant." It was made for the navy in the early 1860s and it would sail with its turret above the water like a sea elephant. The piece is housed in a fancy walnut case with glass on top and on three sides. This is a rare museum piece. Normal wear is present.
