Manufactured 1885. Standard rifle features full round barrel, full magazine, Rocky Mountain sporting front sight, standard Colt sporting rear (missing elevator), and checkered two piece walnut forend. Barrel and tube are a smooth, pleasing blue-plum patina. Frame is a soft grey-brown. Forend in very good to excellent condition with a minor crack and checkering a bit worn. Walnut buttstock is proud to metal and in very good condition with the exception of a 1x1/2" piece of wood missing at right lower tang at frame. Fine action. Strong, clean bore. With a professional repair to the stock chip, this would be a fine and handsome early, open-top Colt Lightning.
