Probably Lehigh County circa 1820. Two-stage smoothbore steel barrel with small brass notched rear sight and traces of a Liege proofmark on the top flat. Flat Ketland & Co. lockplate has been converted to percussion. Brass furniture with rocker panel engraved design and single line borders, triggerguard with lug forward of bow and full sideplate with beveled edges. Silver wrist escutcheon inscribed "JL" and unique silver inlay on left side, above cheekpiece. Full length figured maple stock of typical Lehigh County, Pennsylvania form. Wooden ramrod. Shortened during period of use. Barrel and lock have a heavy brown patina with some scattered marks, barrel tang missing the tip. Brass retains an unpolished an mellow patina. Stock has a few cracks, scattered marks, and an area of loss in front of the lock.
