According to the factory letter, this factory Colt Service Model Ace was shipped to Lt. Col. R.T. King in Cleveland, Ohio on December 20th, 1939 in a shipment of four guns. These guns were numbered in their own serial number range and were factory built as .22 caliber target pistols. Right side of the slide is stamped "COLT SERVICE MODEL ACE .22 LONG RIFLE". It has the Stevens adjustable rear sight and all proper checkered pre-war parts to include; short trigger, arched mainspring, slide stop, safety, and wide spur hammer. The slide is stamped with matching number 789. It has the correct blued barrel, correct magazine stamped "COLT .22 ACE L.R. SERVICE MODEL", and pre-war checkered walnut grips that show some wear. Overall, gun is basically a mix of blue-grey patina, retaining approximately 20% finish. Slide has distinct temper line. Fine bore.
