According to the factory letter, this pistol was shipped as a factory nickel .38 Super to Black Hardware Company, Galveston, Texas on December 22nd, 1950 in a shipment of one gun. With only 2% of the post-war Pre-Series 70 factory nickel .38 Supers, 1950 seems to be the earliest known date for a nickel model. This gun letters all the way; it is a two-toned nickel with a satin top and lower frame. The satin area is a bit shiny, which would indicate that this gun was expertly restored to as-new condition at one point. Razor sharp legends with the beautiful so-called "Bowling Ball" red mottled plastic Colt grips. Near mint bore and action. Barrel features the post-80000 serial range roll marking on top of fat barrel and is stamped "COLT .38 SUPER AUTO", as is magazine. Beautiful, scarce factory nickel .38 Super with one of the earliest known post-war shipping dates. Comes with an original set of instructions.
