Manufactured 1949. Referred to as a "fat barrel", the barrel is blued and the chamber is polished with no roll-die. This is an early model that has the dark chocolate brown Colt logo grips; the first of the post-war grips to feature the Colt pony. Otherwise it is a standard in all respects with blued finish, serrated slide stop, serrated arched mainspring housing, serrated hammer, and checkered safety. Rear of slide stamped "GC". Magazine is stamped "COLT SUPER .38 AUTO" with pin base and eight view holes. Excellent bore and perfect action. Retains approximately 75% original factory blue finish. Grips are near mint. Comes in an original style period box that is missing the front apron. Box is numbered to another gun. Includes original instructions.
