This custom rifle was built with a Model 1878 Sharps action as its basis. It has a round, slender barrel installed with an integral English style barrel, sling swivel eye, three sets of mounting holes for long barrel mounted tube scope, target globe front sight, deluxe walnut forend with Schnabel tip, beautiful deluxe walnut buttstock, straight English checkered grip, left side roll-over cheek piece, set triggers, and a period Unertl 6x tube scope and adjustable Unertl mounts, and finely checkered bordered engraved steel shotgun butt with engraved screw heads. Frame retains approximately 90% of the case colors, most brilliant. 98% original blue. Wood is near mint with a couple of minor abrasions. Perfect action. Strong, shiny bore. The .25 Krag was a custom cartridge invented in 1907 by famed gunsmith A.O. Niedner. It was one of the first high powered varmint cartridges and almost made it into the Savage 1899 line-up. This rifle is not signed but given the Niedner style buttplate and quality of workmanship, it is quite possibly a Niedner project. Absolutely stellar condition.
