This beautiful, embossed chromolithograph was printed in Germany around 1908 by W. Hagelberg of artwork created by artist G.F. Kaber. It depicts the Dance of the Seven Veils as performed by Salome before the biblical King Herod. As the story is told, Herod promised Salome any gift she desired as gratitude for performing the dance at his birthday celebration. Salome's request was the head of John the Baptist and can be seen in the background, hoisted upon a silver platter. A 1" chip and 1/4" tear are present along the right edge of the print as well as a 1/8" chip in the lower right corner. This print has been professionally matted and framed behind glass with a wire for hanging and information tag on the back.
