Octagonal steel barrel with double lined borders on each side of front and rear sight, and stamped "MOLL" in block letters on top flat near breech. Stamp engraved percussion lockplate marked "JOSEPH GOLCHER" in a banner in the center. Brass furniture including a four-piece patchbox engraved with rocker panel borders and scroll decoration on the lid. Full length plain maple stock with carved cheek piece, complete with stripe decorated wooden ramrod. Barrel and lock retain a dark grey patina with some wear, scattered marks and some light corrosion at breech. Stock very good; with repair between barrel tang and lockplate and a minor repair under lockplate. Stock has been refinished and is missing a small piece at toe. Brass retains an unpolished patina. A great example of a later Pennsylvania long rifle, perfect for over the fireplace.
