According to the book titled "Reloading Tools of the Black Powder Era 1850-1910 Vol. II" by Rowe and Curtis, page 208 figure R4-5, this exact style bullet mold is featured. It is a three cavity that casts one hollow base bullet. Lyon & Boyd molds are extremely rare, with less than 50 total known. In the book, two examples are shown, one with the "W" and one without; this is neither of those pictured, making this the third example of this tool to surface. It is marked ".45-90 W" for Winchester, has the manufacturer's stamp and patent date. The patent dates on this mold are 1887 and 1888. They were made in Chadron, Nebraska. This would be a major addition to any collection of rare loading tools, as well as to Winchester collectors. All stampings are excellent. Tool is basically brown patina in complete and working condition.
