Offered is one of the highest condition early Remington Lifter Models of 1878/1879 Heavy Duck guns in existence. All matching numbers. The heavy 32” brown barrels exhibit beautiful Damascus barrels with scooped rib, single bead and near mint bores. The right barrel breach, approximately 8”, in which the pattern is thinned, otherwise nearly complete and strong. The extra grade checkered round knob walnut stock is in excellent to near mint condition with the raised grain, razor sharp checkering with perfect wood to metal fit and smooth shotgun steel buttplate. Shotgun is equipped with double triggers. The hammers are flat faced. The entire receiver area to include lifter and trigger guard retains approx. 75-80% original case colors, some brilliant (never seen on this early model). The splinter forend has sharp checkering with raised grain in near mint condition. It would be nearly impossible to find a higher condition Remington 1870’s Lifter Model. This is museum quality.
