One of the most popular revolvers of the Civil War because of its durability and solid top strap. Features a blued octagon barrel, six shot, single action, brass trigger guard and smooth walnut grips. This gun was converted after the Civil War by trimming the back of the cylinder, allowing rear loading. These conversions were very popular in the early 1870's, allowing the old percussion revolvers to be fired with self-contained cartridges. Barrel legends are partially visible. All metal is a brown patina with some cleaning and erosion. Untouched trigger guard. Excellent grips. Indexes and locks up fine. Strong rifling with usual black powder abrasion.
