Manufactured 1872 to 1874. The Smith & Wesson factory letter indicates this revolver was sold February 20, 1874 to its largest distributor M.W. Robinson Company, New York City as an 8" blued finish with smooth walnut grips, with 20 other identical units. Features six shot, single action, top break with walnut grips. Revolver is basically dark brown patina with sharp legends. The hinge screw and top strap screw are marred. Walnut grips are period but ill-fitting. Visible rifling with usual abrasions. Indexes and locks up tight as new. Has a great Western look that would benefit from some replaced screws.
