Manufactured 1860. The Model 1855 side hammer pocket revolver AKA "Root Model" was manufactured 1855 to 1870. This was part of the first production made through serial number 30000. Features blued finish, octagon barrel, one piece varnished walnut grips, spur trigger, case colored hammer and loading lever. Gun has the Ormsby cabin & Native American scene, second style barrel address with hand. Matching serial number on barrel, cylinder and frame. Sharp legends and cylinder scene. Cylinder is basically a blue-brown soft patina with original nipples. Balance of revolver retains approximately 90% original high polish Colt blue. Darkened case colors. Excellent to near mint grips with the majority of the original varnish. Even the backstrap retains approximately 50% of the original high polish blue. Strong, defined rifling. Indexes and operates perfectly.
