There were only 3,000 of this model manufactured by Simeon North between 1826 and 1829. This is similar to the Model 1819, just smaller. Round smoothbore steel barrel stamped "US/ET" and with "P" proofmark on left side of breech, and fitted in the front with a small brass half moon sight, oval rear sight on tang. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail section dated 1828. Other features include a brass pan and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped with "US/S. NORTH". Standard Model 1826 Navy steel furniture, including a steel belt hook mounted behind sideplate. Nearly full-length, plain walnut stock with steel swivel type ramrod. Good condition, steel components retain a heavy brown patina with freckling and scattered marks, some corrosion around breech and on lockplate. Some markings possibly deepened. Lock has been professionally reconverted. Stock has been refinished, had some restoration, and was broken in half and repaired a few scattered marks from use.
