There were only 3,000 of this model manufactured by Simeon North between 1826 and 1829. This is similar to the Model 1819, just smaller. Round smoothbore steel barrel stamped "US/ET" and with "P" proofmark on left side of breech, and fitted in the front with a small brass half moon sight, oval rear sight on tang. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail section dated 1827. Other features include a brass pan and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped with "US/S. NORTH". Standard Model 1826 Navy steel furniture, including a steel belt hook mounted behind sideplate. Nearly full-length, partially figured walnut stock with steel swivel type ramrod, left side of stock stamped behind sideplate with indistinct inspectors cartouche. Good condition, steel components retain a grey patina with some minor freckling and scattered marks, some corrosion around breech and on lockplate. Barrel markings re-traced and barrel has an applied brown finish. Lock has been reconverted. Stock has a few scattered marks from use.
