This pistol was made in very limited, unknown quantities and closely resembles the Model 1826 North Navy pistol. It is believed that these were made for militia use and the main difference is the absence of belt hooks. Round smoothbore steel barrel is appropriately unmarked, and fitted in the front with a small brass half moon sight and oval rear sight on tang. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail. Other features include a brass pan and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped with "J.J. HENRY/BOULTON". Standard Model 1826 type steel furniture, with the exception of a belt hook. Nearly full-length, plain walnut stock with steel swivel type ramrod. Good condition, steel components retain a grey patina and have been cleaned, some freckling, especially at breech and some light scattered marks. Ramrod tip is replaced. Lock has been professionally reconverted. Stock has a few scattered marks from use and a piece of wood replaced between top of lock and barrel tang. A rare variation of a seldom encountered contract pistol.
