There were 20,400 pistols of this model manufactured by Simeon North between 1819 and 1823. Round smoothbore steel barrel stamped "JDJ/P/US" on left side of breech and fitted in the front with a small brass half moon sight, oval rear sight on tang. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail section dated 1821 and featuring a sliding safety bolt. Other features include a brass pan and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped with "S. NORTH/U./eagle/S./MIDDLTN. CON." Standard Model 1819 steel furniture. Nearly full-length, partially figured walnut stock with steel swivel type ramrod, left side of stock stamped behind sideplate with indistinct inspectors cartouche. Good condition, steel components retain a grey patina with some minor freckling and scattered marks, some corrosion around breech and on lockplate.
