There were 19,374 pistols of this model manufactured by Simeon North between 1817 and 1820. Round smoothbore steel barrel stamped "P/US" on left side of breech and "LS" on right side, probably for inspector Luther Sage. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail section, brass pan, and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped with early type markings "S. NORTH/U./eagle/S./MIDDLN. CON." Standard Model 1816 steel furniture, some screws and barrel band stamped with inspector's mark "E". Walnut stock with replaced wooden ramrod, initials "JDT" carved in front of triggerguard. Good condition, steel components retain a freckled grey patina scattered marks from use. Lock appears to be in original flintlock configuration and has some freckling and light markings, one lock retaining screw replaced. Stock has some scattered marks from use, edge wear, and age cracks. A very honest example.
