This pistol is made in the style of the Model 1808, but has a slightly shorter barrel and the stock is heavier and more crude than most specimens. Round steel smoothbore barrel is unmarked, which is correct for this model. Flat lockplate stamped marked "U. STATES" in center, tail stamped "S. NORTH/BERLIN/CON." vertically, brass pan and reinforced cock. Standard brass Model 1808 furniture, steel belt hook on left side. Full length walnut stock and wooden ramrod. Barrel and lock retain a freckled dark brown patina, lock markings possibly refreshed. Lock has been reconverted to flintlock configuration. Brass retains a dark patina with a few scattered marks. Stock very good with a few scattered marks from use and dark spots. Belt hook is a replacement. This is an interesting and unusual example.
