6,000 of these pistols were manufactured 1872 to 1888 for the U.S. military. The left side of the frame has the patent dates with the large "P" and "S". Left side of walnut grip has the cursive cartouche "C.R.S." for Curtis Roby Stickney who inspected the entire lot of Model 1871's sold to the government. Still has fire blue on the trigger. 75% case colors on frame with some age freckling. 85% original blue on barrel with some minor age spotting and some browning. Wood is very good. Strong clean bore and fine action. Extremely fine 1871 Rolling Block.
