These single shot, spur trigger, rolling block pistols were manufactured for the U.S. Government from 1866 to 1870. Features a blued barrel, case colored frame, walnut forend and one piece grip. Barrel is stamped with Navy anchor. "298" is stamped under forend. Top of barrel is stamped "1873". Left side of frame has the Remington patent stamps. Left side of grip is stamped with the inspector "F.C.W." in script for Franklin C. Warner, who was hired as a civilian inspector for the U.S. Navy prior to the Civil War; commissioned as a Naval Officer in 1864 and appointed at the Naval inspector for all of the rolling block pistols that the Navy Ordnance had ordered. This is a fairly scarce Navy pistol. Barrel retains 90% of the original blue, starting to turn patina with some age freckling. Case colors have grayed out with sharp legends. Grips are very good with usual dings. Action works perfectly. Strong rifled bore.
