The Schuetzen of Loveland, Colorado built this beautiful target/sporting rifle using an original 1884 trapdoor Springfield action serial no. 400302 as the basis for this project. Also has an original lockplate stamped "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" with eagle and original hammer, which were all beautifully bone-case colored. A heavy 34" full octagon barrel was installed with under-rib to contain a wooden cleaning rod and two hangers. A custom carved deluxe walnut half stock was fitted with case colored and fire blue accessories. A special decorative trigger guard with double set triggers, an extremely high quality long-range tang sight was added, ornate semi-buckhorn sporting rear sight was installed as well as a globe target front sight. The look of the rifle was inspired by the Samuel Hawkins plains rifles of the mid-19th century, as well as the Gemmer Sharps. This beautiful, custom trapdoor is in as new condition inside and out. The quality of the workmanship is unsurpassed.
