This early shotgun appears to be an experimental model. The only markings on frame are on the left side which appears to be second issue stamp circa 1910's-20's, no patent dates (patent dates were found on the first 10,000 guns). This example has an experimental cover with trigger catch that covers the bottom of the lifter, stamped "DRP241409 AMERIKA 100 3248 BELGIUM 225142" which would have been the patent application numbers for this cover. Barrel is sans and markings. Has a hand-made solid rib, round knob checkered walnut stock, after-market recoil pad. Frame retains approximately 75-80% original blue finish, balance blending to patina. Barrel has approximately 75% finish as well. Very good bore and action. This is obviously the action used to demonstrate the patented floorplate cover that we have never seen in actual use on any other Browning shotgun. This would be considered a tool-room or prototype weapon, and as such is likely one-of-a-kind. A must-have for any Browning collector.
