Saber ground skinner. Blade marked "Z. McCarty/Thomaston, GA". Beautiful ivory handle with scrimshaw on front scale depicting an early sailing vessel. Back scale is scrimshaw of a detailed scene of whale destroying sailor's vessel after being harpooned. Resembles a scene from Moby Dick but there is no proof the knife was based on the book. Artist signed "L. Karst". Steel full oval guard and steel pommel. Original leather sheath.

Condition: (Mint).
