Manufactured in 1890. The factory letter states that this revolver was shipped as a blue .44-40 with 4-3/4" barrel, stocks not listed, to Simmons Hardware Co. St Louis, August 27, 1890. Caliber is correct but gun is now nickel plated. Gun has been completely engraved during the period in New York-style/Helfricht-style engraving. Wears a pair of real Mother of Pearl grips; right panel carved with a star. Has nearly full coverage scroll and punch dot background engraving, masterfully executed. Overall gun retains approximately 95% of the nickel finish applied at the time of engraving. It is stamped with block letters "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" on left side with the three line patent address. Very good to excellent pearl grips with chip at right heel and repair. Left grip panel is excellent. Nice bore and action. Lovely New York style engraved antique Frontier Six Shooter with a great Western look.
