Manufactured October 6th, 1897. Factory letter lists as: Rifle, .30, Round Barrel Extra Light, Plain Trigger, Checkered Stock with Pistol Grip (with cap), Half Magazine, Rubber Shotgun Butt (with Winchester Logo), Takedown, with Oil Finish, Shipped September 17th, 1898. This extra lightweight antique deluxe rifle features triple X walnut, highly figured; lightweight full round barrel; small ramp with dovetail front sight due to thickness of barrel; special three leaf rear express folding sight (sights not listed in letter); scarce Slidin' Lyman Model 21 receiver sight. Barrel retains approximately 85% original factory blue with the balance blending to a rich, smooth, matching patina. This blue-brown patina is also found on forend cap and tube. Frame retains approximately 35-40% blue on the sides; balance a mix of soft patina and dull gun metal grey. Beautiful stocks are proud to metal with no cracks or chips, just some added oil rubbed on. Trace of color on lever. 20% blue on loading gate. Seven lettered extra factory features with special sights not listed.
