Circa 1675. Two-stage smoothbore steel barrels with turned muzzles and scattered sprigs of engraving on tops. Steel miquelet locks with some engraving on faces and springs. Wooden stocks completely overlaid, in the Ripoll style, with repousse brass decorated with scrolls on a stippled ground. Both with steel trigger guards, belt hooks on left sides and ramrods. Very good condition, locks and barrels have been cleaned bright and show wear and some freckling. Brass stocks with ovoid pommels are very good with some minor repairs and losses around locks, polished surface. Overall length is 7-3/4". These are the tiniest known pair of brass covered Ripoll pistols. This item is from the collection of, described by, and authenticated by Herbert G. Ratner, Jr.
