This rifle was built December of 1942. Standard issue early war Smith-Corona Model 1903-A3. Features barrel stamped "SC" with Ordnance bomb and "12-42" date, dark military matte blue finish, standard 1903 front sight, two pressed steel flat barrel bands, rear bridge mounted standard military sight, straight grip walnut stock, two bolts, no finger groove, walnut forend with no sight groove, blued checkered steel buttplate with trapdoor. Left side of stock is stamped with Ordnance wheel and "F. J. A." (Frank Atwood) inspector stamp, as well as an "RA" stamp for Raritan Arsenal. Has the non-serif proof "P" on wrist and pressed trigger guard and floorplate. This rifle remains in excellent condition. Metal retains 95% of better original finish. Stock is excellent with a couple of minor dings. Has a period World War II steel frog sling with two leather keepers. Fine action. Clean, shiny bore. ME reading: .75. TE reading: 3. Would be extremely hard to improve upon this scarce early war Smith-Corona.
