Circa 1780. Four turned steel barrels numbered 1 through 4 on tops as well as on breech tops, and all stamped on bottoms of breeches with English crown over "V" for "viewed" mark. Inside of muzzles are slotted for wrenches. Single scalloped steel boxlock flintlock action engraved with scrolls on both sides, one side marked "BARBAR" and the other "LONDON", Barbar being one of the major and more respected London gun makers of his period. Pan features three touch holes and cock is reinforces. Plain steel triggerguard and curved walnut grip with ornate silver wire inlaid rococo designs and scrolls on both sides and on top. Very good condition, all steel surfaces have been cleaned and show some freckling and wear overall. Mechanism is crisp and markings and engraving are all excellent. Grip excellent with only a few very small pieces of silver wire absent. Overall length is 11-1/2". This is a rarely seen configuration and displays wonderfully!
