Damascus steel smoothbore two-stage barrel, stages separated by a relief ring and chiseled leaf designs. Patent breech and swamped muzzle, bottom flat of barrel inscribed "Tort. e Fab. a Pieto. Beretta a Gardone 1834" and marked with two "PB" cartouches. Casehardened tang and breech, front sight and notched rear sight on tang. Steel ramrod ferrules, one with a sling swivel. Flat percussion lockplate with indistinct mark in center, case-hardened finish. Partially figured varnished walnut half-stock with plain steel furniture and checkered wrist. Butt carved with large relief cheekpiece on left side. Wooden ramrod with worm at tip and large silver cap. Excellent condition, barrel markings are excellent, retains a light grey patina with much Damascus visible, case colors very good at breech. lock mechanism strong, retains a mostly grey patina with traces of case colors in protected areas. Furniture mostly light grey with traces of blue finish. Stock excellent with some scattered marks from use. A very well made and nice early Beretta fowler in exceptional condition.
