In its day the No. 6 was the last word in target rifles! Manufactured from 1876 to 1890. Heavy blue octagon barrel with wind-gauge front sight and sliding disc registering peep sight or "Marlin's graduated peep sight". Barrel was not cut for rear sporting sight, it was intended for this sight setup. Octagon barrel has razor sharp edges, is extra heavy with 1/2" flats and 1" at muzzle. 97% original blue with basically high edge wear only. Finely engraved case hardened falling block receiver and ball and spur lever. Left side of the frame is engraved with intricate scroll and buffalo panel which can be seen on page 177 in the "Ballard Book" by Dutcher, it is nearly identical to serial no. 16808 in figure 2210. Features same engraving, lever double triggers, tang sight, front sight, no cut for rear sight, Swiss butt, and beautiful deluxe stock with razor sharp checkering; the only difference seems to be the caliber. Left side of the stock has the prancing deer as seen on page 206 figure 26-7. Frame retains 20-30% case colors. Wood is near mint. Double set triggers. Highly figured cut checkered walnut stocks. Front stock has a horn cap and spot for palm rest. Rear stock is a high comb with cheek piece and a Swiss style buttplate.
