Winchester produced the John Wayne Special carbine in 1981. It features extended forearm, straight grip, deluxe walnut with deep cut checkering, and carbine buttplate. Round barrel is engraved "JOHN WAYNE COMMEMORATIVE" in pewter letters. The buttplate, barrel, magazine, hammer, trigger and loading gate are blued. The wide-looped lever, made famous by Wayne in the move "Stagecoach", barrel bands, and frame are pewter plated. Left side of frame depicts six horses pulling a stagecoach chased by Indians. Right side depicts John Wayne on horseback on a cattle drive. Upper tang has facsimile John Wayne signature. Blued saddle ring. Silver medallion on right side of stock with a portrait of John Wayne. 49,000 were produced. This rifle is in as new condition inside and out with original hang tag. Comes in the original Styrofoam box with decorative cardboard sleeve.
