Manufactured 1906. This Colt Lightning comes with a letter from Joe Hunt Sheriff of Tom Green County, San Angelo, Texas, retired Texas Ranger, listed by serial number as "This Colt pistol was property of the Tom Green County Sheriff's Department which was established in 1875". Revolver retains 97% of the reapplied nickel finish. Fire blue trigger and hammer, Colt black rubber grips. Indexes double action only. Very good bore with black powder abrasion. Repaired front sight. The 6" barrel is one of the scarcer barrel lengths, and while the revolver itself is pretty standard, it is the history that it played in the south Texas sheriff's department that makes this an interesting part of Texas and Western history.
