This is a Model 1950 bolt action rifle manufactured in Austria. Features ramp front sight, two leaf folding rear sight, blued finish, butter knife bolt handle, double set triggers, half stock checkered walnut pistol grip with cap, sling swivels, and solid black pad. Sports a quality German Schmidt & Bender 4x36 scope with Griffin & Howe quick detachable sidelocks with hidden screws. Metal retains virtually all of its original factory finish. Walnut stocks are excellent with a couple areas of finish flaking. 98% blue on floorplate and trigger guard. Perfect optics on scope. Fine bore and action. Right side of stock has a plaque that reads "PRESENTED TO R.J.K. MUIR, ESQ. ON HIS 21ST BIRTHDAY BY THE TENANTS, ESTATE WORKERS AND FRIENDS OF BLAIR DRUMMOND 25/5/60". The Blair Drummond house was built between 1868 and 1872 near the Buchlyvie, Scotland. It appears as if Richard James Kay Muir was an owner of the Blair Drummond estate and the workers presented him with this rifle. Richard eventually left Scotland and moved back to Kenya. Today, over 1,500 acres of the Blair Drummond lands are Scotland's only safari and leisure park, established in the 1970's. This rifle has a few peculiarities; barrel and receiver are marked "58" indicating 1958, tang safety marked in gold but no side safety, stock is glass bedded where the serial number at the stock should be. There is even a letter of correspondence from Jamie Muir, brother of Richard, dated to June 2001. This rifle is in beautiful shape and comes with all the aforementioned information.
