This is a standard model. Features: two barrel bands, cleaning rod, 1873 rear-sight, full length walnut stock. The breech block is stamped "Model 1873". Left side of barrel has the eagle "VP" proof. The sideplate is stamped "US Springfield" with eagle. Butt plate and bands are stamped "US". Rifle has both of the sling swivels intact. The inspector stamps on this rifle are near mint. The left side has the SWP 1883 Cartouche for Samuel Porter. The bottom of the wrist has the Serif proof "P" in circle. As to condition, the metal is basically a smooth plum mixed with gray. The stock is excellent but does have the usual bumps and bruises. Action is perfect with a strong, clean, shiny bore. An excellent example of an all original Indian Wars Trapdoor.
