The McClellan saddle was a riding saddle designed by George B. McClellan for the U.S. cavalry. It was adopted by the army in 1859 and its use continued through WWII. This example is a Model 1904 with a 12" seat. It is covered with stitched brown leather with features brass fittings. Front of seat displays a brass shield embossed with "12 INCH/SEAT." Complete with most of the original straps and buckles. Very good condition, showing honest use, with some scattered scuffs, marks from use and crazing to surface in a few places. Strap on right side has a couple of breaks. This would make a great display item for any WWI cavalry collector.
