This is a standard Webley Mk VI manufactured in 1918, so dated, with blued finish, double action and originally chambered for the .455 cartridge. Exhibits the rare, never-seen Parker conversion. This model is fully described on page 115 in the book "The Webley Story" by Dowell. On page 153 is a four page dissertation on the sub-caliber conversions. Similar versions can be seen on plates 57 and 60. According to the book, following World War I Captain W.E. Robinson of the Fourth Battalion Border regiment suggested A.G. Parker & Co. Ltd., Birmingham, (now Parker-Hale) that they should experiment to adapt the revolver to shoot .22 LR. An adapter was evolved that consisted of auxiliary barrel sleeve, new cylinder, breech locking collar, special rear target sight, and target front sight like those on Bisley Model. Matching numbers on cylinder, barrel and frame. Beautiful, sharp makings. 95% original military finish. Numerous Birmingham proofs. Features six shot, composite grips and lanyard ring. Indexes perfectly. Strong, clean bore. End of barrel sleeve is stamped "PARKERIFLED AGP". So few of these factory conversions were performed, that most have never seen or heard of one, and this is the first one to date for us as well. Comes with a period original flap holster in very good condition with a back repair. This has to be one of the finest condition conversions extant. One could travel a lifetime to shows and never see another, especially in this high, all original condition. Beautiful, never seen British revolver.
