Offered is a standard Merwin Hulbert pocket revolver with two matching barrels. Serial no. 1626 can be found in back of the cylinder. Matching number on 3-1/2" barrel as well as the 5-1/2" barrel. Very scarcely do you see matching sets still numbered. Features five shot, double action, nickel finish, ribbed barrel, top strap, checkered rubber grips and metal lanyard construction. Folding hammer has "JANUARY 7th 1885" patent date. "MERWIN HULBERT" stamped on top of barrels. In addition, has a nickel plated trigger guard and case colored hammer and trigger with nickel plated folding attachment. Nickel plating remains at about 85% for both barrels and gun. Traces of case colors on hammer. Indexes perfectly. Both barrels have fine bores. Grips are excellent. According to a letter dated 1991 by Ruth Randall, this revolver was given to her father, H. Neil Noyes who worked for the American Railway Express. He spent 37 years with American Railway Express from Boston to Montreal. This was his issue weapon and was given to him as a parting gift upon retirement. As an aside, H. Neil worked for the fire department in New Hampshire where he was listed as the oldest acting fireman in the U.S. Comes in a wood display box with cleaning rod both with matching numbers to gun, an old Railway Express pin and a space for both barrels. Box is specifically made to fit a two barrel Merwin set.
