According to the factory letter, serial no. 54988 was shipped on June 11, 1892 as a rifle, 25-20, 28” Number 1 octagon barrel, set trigger, pistol grip checkered stock. This rifle still remains in that original configuration. In addition, it sports a tang sight, a standard Winchester semi buckhorn rear sight and standard sporting front-sight. The barrel retains approximately 85-90% bright factory blue with razor-sharp legends. The frame retains approximately 25% case colors with balance turning gray patina. The checkered walnut stocks are excellent, proud to metal with some usual evidence of wear. The checkering is still well-defined and the buttstock exhibits deluxe fiery grain. Action is perfect. Very good bore. Extremely handsome deluxe antique Low-wall sporting rifle.
