The factory letter for serial no. 125384 states this rifle was shipped on March 24, 1902, with 26” round barrel, plain trigger, and shotgun butt in caliber 50 Express. Rifle remains in that configuration. The full round barrel retains 85% original blue finish with plum starting to come through and some minor age freckling. The tube is a pleasing mix of blue and plum patina. The forend cap is also a plum patina. Has a folding leaf express rear sight. Standard front sight, sharp legends, stamped "50 ex." at breach. Retains 90% blue on the bolt with traces of blue on the frame that show some evidence of cleaning, and it is now basically a brown-grey patina. Walnut stocks are very good with usual bumps and dings. Has a serrated rubber buttplate with no logo and some minor cracking. Fine action and a strong, clean shiny bore. The butt stock has a sling eye and an ID plate has been removed and could easily be corrected. Overall, a nice Big 50.
