Features a slightly curved Spanish style triple fuller steel blade. Brass Hilt with four slot guard with a teardrop piercing extending into the knuckle bow. Rare mushroom pommel with engraved lines and capstan. Flared cherry grip with single strand of spiraling brass wire and brass ferrules at each end. For a sword with a nearly identical hilt, see figure 66 SS. on page 325 of George C. Neumann's "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution." Excellent condition, overall! Blade retains a light grey patina with some light freckling, top and bottom edges with a few nicks. Hilt retains a very dark and unpolished patina. Grip is excellent with some minor marks from use. A very attractive example of a heavy duty American made cavalry sword that was almost certainly used during the Revolutionary War!
