This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2017
Both the barrel and the frame have the United States Ordinance bomb and proof "P". Left side of frame is stamped "Model 620" along with "U.S." stamp. These are the only military stamps on the shotgun. Shotgun has blued finish, single bead, walnut stocks with black composite buttplate. The barrel retains approximately 90% of the military matte blue finish as does the frame with usual light high edge wear. Bore is clean. Action fine. Forend is excellent. There is a repaired crack at the wrist that could be repaired so as to not be seen. U.S. Government listed this shotgun as a riot gun and it is reported that they ordered 12,174 of all types during World War II. This shotgun falls into the range listed from serial number 17,000 through 33,000. Model 620 U.S. Shotgun was approximately one third of the production compared to the Stevens Model 520 making it extremely scarce. An overview of this model shotgun can be seen on pages 137-139 in the book “Combat Shotguns”, by Bruce Canfield.
