Referred to as the K-22 Masterpiece Pre-War, this is the rare First Model long action rear sight. This is a six shot, double action revolver built on the square butt K target frame with five screw, blued finish, pinned barrel, recessed cylinder, case colored hammer and trigger, with early pre-war diamond checkered walnut grips with silver Smith & Wesson logo. Matching number on cylinder and barrel. Has the Patridge front sight, First Model micrometer click rear sight. Right grip panel is stamped with a matching serial number. Only 1,067 were manufactured between 1940 and 1941, two of which were shipped to Elmer Keith and one was shipped to Philip Sharpe. Overall, revolver retains 90% original blue finish with scattered light freckling with some patina showing through finish. Grips are near mint. Generous color on hammer and trigger. Light muzzle wear. Indexes and locks up like new. Strong, clean bore.
