Offered is a unique pair of factory engraved expertly executed five-shot, single action percussion Navy style revolvers. It is in our expert opinion these revolvers are possible engraved by Wolfe Engraving House but there are no factory records available for proof. These were manufactured in Newark, NJ between the years 1859-1868. Serial numbers’s are no. 58379, which has all matching numbers with the exception of unnumbered wedge, and serial no. 58402 with all matching numbers except cylinder not numbered. Both revolvers feature octagon barrels, five-shot, single action, brass back strap and trigger guard. Both revolvers sport period ivory grips and both cylinders have visible scene with ten notches. The engraving is in Nimschke style scroll with punch-dot background. Both revolvers have strong bores and are in working condition but are basically a gray-patina. The ivory grips are beautifully aged with one sliver missing on one panel of one of the guns. This fine set of engraved revolvers comes in a wooden display case with the original Manhattan marked bullet mold (very rare), along with period original powder flask. Rarely do you see any fully engraved civil war era Manhattan revolvers let alone a pair with nearly identical pattern by the same hand. An interesting side note is the lightly engraved name on serial no. 58379 that appears to be "G. Daubin" and only etched on butt of one gun.
