Round smoothbore steel barrel with brass front sight surrounded by engraved designs and flat panel on top marked "DAMOUR-A-LIEGE" with engraved bell flowers leading to breech. Early rounded banana lockplate with percussion conversion, probably Belgian. Cast brass furniture with relief designs and faces on sideplate, triggerguard bow, and a grotesque mask on the butt cap. Plain walnut stock with relief carved panels around the lock and sideplate and a teardrop around the barrel tang. Relief molding around ramrod channel, replaced wooden ramrod. Very good condition, steel components have been polished bright and have some scattered freckling. Pistol possibly professionally shortened at the time it was converted, possibly by the same gunsmith. Brass retains an unpolished patina and is in excellent condition. Stock has some light wear and scattered marks. This is a nice Belgian officer's pistol with an interesting history of use.
